In the great quietness of these winter evenings there is one clock: the sea. Its dim momentum in the mind is the fugue upon which this writing is made. Empty cadences of sea-water licking its own wounds, sulking along the mouth of the delta, boiling upon those deserted beaches - empty, forever empty under the gulls: white scribble on the grey, munched by clouds. If there are ever sails here they die before the land swallows them. Wreckage washed up on the pediments of islands, the last crust, eroded by the weather, stuck in the blue maw of water... gone!

But if you had to pick your top ten...songs...you had to recommend 10 songs to someone above all else on any measure of goodness, be it inspiration, emotion, quality, voice, instrumentation, beat, whatever, what would they be? I ask this only because someone asked me about a year ago, and I still can't fill out the list. I get to about number three, and then I have a hundred runners up for number 4-10. And reading your list made me think of several others that weren't in contention that should be.
I'm sorry by the way for all the comments, by the way...I'm just feeling really chatty tonight!

Ummm, Tom York desires an apology in the form of an essay on why the fuck he didn't get into your rodeohead.

jolly rogering, too true. i've been surreptitiously adding the ones that pop up during the day, but for radiohead to be forgotten makes me crimson. i'll sneak them in somewhere in the middle, you know, to waken the bulk. funny you supply them, as i was trying to ask for someone to tell me what 'genre' i wore. i think radiohead describes it pretty well. thanks dudeman.
