The Name Blame

Hello.
Amidst the turbid effluvium of school-gas and life's subtle but profound semantic shifts, I intend to start a complementary blog. Inspired by Pruned, mine will pick up those seashells I step over when writing essays and the like. It'll be part archival, part vanity, part fascination and be very pictoral. Architectural landscapes will be its focus (how this is distinct from landscape architecture, I do not know) and it will be a simple way to chronicle some of the airier and more ephemeral interests of mine. Like pruned, pictures of stuff will be the preferred information package. And for you Sparky, it will also be a discrete exercise in vitalism.

Despite the borrowed bricolage of underpinned ideas, it needs a really good name. I was thinking of "echoscapes", because it infers resonance and broad ecology and symbolic depth, but I looked it up, and blogspot already has it (founded in Montreal, no less)... This'll be a wordpress supported blog, but still, I'm not a big fan of doppelgangers (one of my few superstitions). I might yet do it, but it still bothers me, even though there hasn't been any movement on it since 2005. Meanwhile, "escapes" does not yet exist, but i do prefer the first former...

Help me please, and have a good think about it. Qualities valued in the name are: subject association, compactability, novelty and a mystic twinge.

I'm honoured, sir. I'm musty, dusty and old, so this is going to be pretty straight as a suggestion, but I like the word "arch" -- the notion of an "archeus" is actually buried in vitalism as unified principle kind of deal.

Lame, I know.

"arch" was kind of on the top of my head too, and i'm not selling you anything when i say it felt i almost couldn't mention it for fear of compromising all it stood for (lots of double-entrendres here...). your suggestion makes me think of keystones and, for lord knows what reason, those monkey puzzle trees they have in victoria in such abundance...
that's a good suggie!

jordman, instead of studying for an exam, i lay in a trance thinking of names associated with you and hit upon "Urbo Cop"... this quickly became the "urbanator", but it started with that t-shirt.

Good ol' Hap...I still wear that shirt regularly, and it never fails to offend (and I can never figure out why).

pimpmytreehouse - ha!

I've been trying to come up with something too. What about something really simple? Texture? Or you know what's amazing? The fruit that grows in bottles. Seriously. You put the bud in the bottle, then it grows into it and an alcohol is made with it in the bottle. That would be a great visual representation of man's interaction/manipulation of nature. Let me go find out what that's called. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C5%A2uic%C4%83

Hmm. Not a great name, but an awesome image! Also, there's the espalier, or fruit that's grown on a trellis close to the ground. Trellis? Oh! Plus a photo of the trellis with dangling fruit would be a perfect blog header!
